DAY 238 OF 2012
..its about 2am in Los Angeles…the city I was born in 37 years ago today….I love LA and I love California…I love my family and friends….I am so so stoked to have had all the rad opportunities and experiences in this life on earth and am forever thankful for everything….Its about 11am in Cologne, Germany…im looking out the window of this hotel …out onto the river…the train is going by on the bridge…there is a big gothic cathedral just across the water..its Sunday…the bells are ringing…..the sky is black from approaching rain….2 days ago I was on the beach at home….its so amazing this world….so thankful to all of those who have created such amazing ways to travel…i think in a few years the way we drive and the way we fly will all be so archaic…..im sure at some point it will take 20 minutes to go to NY and an hour to go to London and we wont have to drive our cars etc etc…I welcome that change and technology….at the same time I am glad to have grown up without a celphone or a computer or email ….for 26 years I didnt have any of those things and I cant help but think that really gave me the chance to just be in the present moment…..so thankful for that…..and so thankful for the path of life…from working at my dads junkyard to working at the gas station to working in a grocery store…to street performing for many years and now to being a photographer and writer…i think none would have worked without the other…..and I just want to say thank you to all the people that have opened their lives to me and allowed me to document them…its everything to me and what drives me everyday to wakeup and explore …..I cant wait to meet the next person and I cherish every person I have met in the past……so many stories to be told in every person…..I love so many things..and I will just mention a few…my family…..because theyre so caring and have sacrificed so much for me and for our family as a whole….my friends…because they are so solid and actually family and friends can be put together…theyre all my family….i love surfing and the ocean so much…I love women and their beauty and passion and they inspire me everyday…i love young energy wether it be the energy of a teenager or a 70 year old…i just love when people are excited about living….I love all the strange twists and turns of the road….I am not sure I am ever excited to travel anymore as I feel comfortable at home or wherever I am at that moment but I love everywhere once I am there because its just awesome to be somewhere…..and I love sharing intimate moments with people while photographing them…that connection and energy is so radical……I am so thankful for 37 years on this earth and will be thankful for every moment I am allowed to be here ……much love…d
